Scarlett Road bike lane barrier murals 2020

In late September 2020, I was commissoned by StreetARToronto to illustrate and hand-paint 2 concrete bike lane barriers that would improve road safety by making bike lanes more visible. It was an amazing opportunity to work alongside local Toronto artists to complete a total of 473 custom designed barriers to transform grey concrete infrastructures into a gallery of interesting and meaningful artwork. Artists were given the themes of Flora, Fauna, Fossils, and Fables to work upon.

Working on the theme of Fables, I based my illustrations off stories and fairy tales. Featuring the heron, fish, and snail from the fable, The Heron. As well as the golden fish from the fairy tale, The Fisherman and His Wife.

The completed cycle track art barriers will demarcate the cycle track on Scarlett Road from Edenbridge Drive to Bernice Crescent.
